Effective: 23 September 2026 Applies to: Still for iOS Developer: Mayur Laate
Still is a journal. The entire point is that nobody reads it but you — so this document mostly describes things that don't happen.
Still has no server. There is no account to create, no login, and nowhere for your writing to be sent to us — because there is no "us" on the other end of a network connection. We do not collect, receive, store, analyse, sell or share anything you write.
Your entries stay on your device, and — if you leave iCloud Sync on — in your own iCloud account, which we have no access to. Still contains no advertising, no tracking, no analytics services, and no third-party software development kits of any kind.
| What | Where it goes | Who can read it |
|---|---|---|
| Entry text | Your device; your iCloud account if sync is on | You |
| Photos you attach | Your device; your iCloud account if sync is on | You |
| Moods & stars | Your device; your iCloud account if sync is on | You |
| App settings | Your device only | You |
| Face ID result | Nowhere — never stored | Nobody |
| Usage analytics | Not collected | Nobody |
| Personal details | Never requested | Nobody |
Nothing.
Still ships with no analytics service, no crash reporting service, no advertising identifier, and no third-party libraries. It makes no network requests to any server operated by us, because none exists. We cannot tell you how many entries you have written, when you last opened the app, or whether you use it at all.
If you report a problem by email, we receive whatever you choose to put in that email, and nothing else.
Every entry is stored in Still's own private storage area on your device, which other apps cannot read.
If iCloud Sync is on (the default)
Your entries also sync through Apple's CloudKit service into the private database of your personal iCloud account, in a container named iCloud.com.brainleak.Still. This is your Apple storage, governed by your Apple ID and Apple's Privacy Policy. A private CloudKit database is accessible only to the account that owns it. We are not a party to it and cannot read, list or retrieve anything in it.
You can turn sync off at any time in Settings → iCloud Sync. Once off, entries created afterwards stay only on the device.
If iCloud Sync is off
Your entries never leave the device except inside your own encrypted device backup, or in a file you deliberately export yourself.
You can verify all of this from inside the app: Settings → Your Data shows live counts and storage figures read directly from disk.
